
KOLKATA: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee is predicted to formally announce Sundarbans and Basirhat as two new districts of the state throughout an administrative assembly scheduled on November 29, a senior official stated on Monday.
The 2 districts are set to be carved out of South and North 24 Parganas districts, he stated.
“All the mandatory work to create the 2 new districts has been accomplished. The CM is prone to announce the names tomorrow in Hingalganj through the administrative assembly,” the official instructed PTI.
The CM will start her three-day tour of the mangrove space of Sundarbans from Monday.
The district of Sundarbans is prone to have round 13 blocks of South 24 Parganas whereas Basirhat might have six of North 24 Parganas, he stated.
